JVC Professional Video Introduces New Workflow Solutions

Maria: JVC Professional Video released a range of affordable workflow solutions, including vMix Studio Switchers, Control Surfaces, Six-Input Switchers, and Joystick PTZ Controllers. These tools provide budget-conscious studios and venues with high-quality, easy-to-configure equipment to enhance their creative production possibilities. Philip, unpack this for me.

JVC Professional Video Begins Shipping New Workflow Solutions

Philip: It’s interesting to see many manufacturers now targeting the more budget-friendly market segment. This indicates the growing demand in the hypermedia environment we’re in. With the availability of devices like iPads and smartphones, we have more opportunities to create and consume video content throughout the day. JVC’s solutions are not the cheapest on the market, but they offer professional-grade features, such as SDI connectivity, which enhances the quality of the video.

Maria: What makes these solutions different from previous options available in the market?

Philip: Many existing solutions in the market start with 12 or 24 inputs and are designed for larger professional studios. JVC’s offerings, on the other hand, are geared towards smaller corporate, government, and small studio environments. With six channels, SDI and HDMI connectivity, and joystick capabilities, these solutions cater to a smaller crew or even a “one-man band” setup. It’s interesting that JVC has considered these specific needs and included joystick functionality, especially since they also sell PTZ cameras that can be used alongside the switcher. Overall, JVC’s solutions provide cost-effective opportunities to produce better content.

Ateliere Connect Unveils Clipping Functionality for Streamlined Media Supply Chain

Maria: Moving on to Ateliere, Ateliere Creative Technologies has launched a powerful clipping functionality within its cloud-native media supply chain platform, Ateliere Connect. The feature enables users to modify titles and attributes on the fly, facilitating quick content repackaging and accelerated delivery. With time-based metadata and efficient segmentation capabilities, Ateliere customers can streamline sales, compliance, and bulk packaging workflows. So Philip, tell me about this.

Philip: It’s interesting to see how organizations are adapting to the changing media landscape. The ability to repurpose and cut media into smaller chunks is crucial for reaching different platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and websites. Ateliere’s clipping functionality makes it easier for customers to quickly modify titles and attributes, enabling them to create new pieces of media efficiently. This helps organizations fill their “media supply chain” and deliver content at a faster pace.

Tiffen Launches Magnetic Rear-Mount Filter System for ARRI Signature Lenses

Maria: Now moving on, Tiffen introduces diffusion filters for the Magnetic Rear Filter Holder on ARRI Signature lenses, offering filmmakers instant changeability, creative options, and reduced weight. The system allows filmmakers using ARRI’s Signature Lens line of lenses to add any Tiffen filter to each lens’ ARRI magnetic rear filter holder. So Philip, what are your thoughts on this?

Philip: It’s interesting to note that one of the challenges cinematographers face is the quick accessibility of filters. This innovation by Tiffen offers a solution by allowing filmmakers to easily attach their filters to the back of ARRI Signature lenses using the magnetic rear filter holder. This system provides instant changeability, creative flexibility, and reduces the weight compared to traditional front-mounted filters. It’s similar to the recent adoption of drop-in filters in the EF to RF mounts by Canon. As a Canon shooter, I find it fantastic not having to worry about step-up or step-down filters anymore. It will be interesting to see if this magnetic filter system gets adopted across PL mounts in general, making it easier for filmmakers using various lenses.
