Maria: Epiphan’s latest innovation, Pearl Nexus, emerges as a game-changer for the Pro AV and education sectors. It offers a 1 TB SSD, seamless CMS integrations, full AV infrastructure compatibility, and comprehensive management via Epiphan Cloud, streamlining automated video captures.
So, Mary, I know that you are curious to talk about this with Philip.
Mary: Yeah, one thing that I’ve noticed they’re really promoting is its ability to “play nice with others” and the “set it and forget it” feature. So, Philip, aside from corporate education, what do you think of this?
Philip: Well, first and foremost, I think one of the most difficult challenges most organizations face, which we get asked a lot in the work that I do, is, “How do I record this?” In the old days, we had a VCR. We don’t really have VCR-type tech anymore, which is what a lot of Pro AV relied on; everything’s gone digital. Some of the past solutions were more difficult, involving getting an encoder and a disk drive, among other things. This has sort of made a one-stop package that is simple to use for the professional AV industry, enabling them to provide encoding, recording, and transcoding. It also allows for some streaming in a very simple, one-stop shop or a utility that does one thing and does it very well. So, it allows them to take an infrastructure, like you said, “Plays Well With Others,” integrate this device, and now be able to record and stream their programming.
Mary: Yeah, one thing I also notice, which of course you and I both love, is that it uses NDI. It’s so much simpler. And just to drop in, I was even talking about how well it works with Crestron, so you could take it into any environment, drop it in, and you don’t have to reconfigure absolutely everything.
Philip: Exactly. Exactly. They really thought about the professional AV market and the tech that you use there, and made it in such a way that it’s very easy to integrate.
Maria: Many thanks to our experts, Philip and Mary. And don’t forget to comment on the news that we’ve discussed. See you next week at the same time!
