A+E Networks EMEA Adopts Rally Platform for Supply Chain Management

A+E Networks EMEA has implemented the Rally media supply chain management platform from SDVI to enhance its operations and transition its media supply chain to the cloud.

This new system is designed to improve the efficiency of workflows related to sourcing, processing, localization, enrichment, storage, and distribution of long-form content.

Comprehensive Supply Chain Management

The Rally platform went live in November 2023, managing all incoming content from production companies, distributors, and acquisition partners for A+E Networks EMEA. This includes handling 27 linear feeds and content in 24 languages across 60 VOD platforms. Plans are in place to extend Rally’s management to outgoing content workflows by the upcoming summer.

Operational Improvements and Automation

Jan-Hendrik Hein, the Vice President of Media Operations at A+E Networks EMEA, highlighted the shift to a more integrated, cloud-based supply chain that offers increased flexibility, speed, and control. The automation of the ingest workflow allows content received in the evening from the U.S. to be processed overnight, reducing the need for manual intervention from 16 steps to just four, thus speeding up operations by six to ten hours.

Enhanced Data Management and Access

The use of Rally has centralized data management and increased visibility across departments, reducing the need for extensive email communications and redundant tasks. This has enabled various departments such as finance and compliance to access up-to-date content information more efficiently, streamlining processes and cost management.

Self-Sufficiency and Forward-Looking Initiatives

Matt Westrup, CTO of A+E Networks EMEA, stated that adopting a cloud-native, SaaS platform like Rally aligns with their goal of maintaining control over their media supply chain and enhancing the efficiency of their operations. This strategic move aims to provide greater transparency and simplicity in operations, facilitating a more data-driven and automated approach.
