Aaron Doughten, Director of Technology and Marketing for Sencore, in the TFT1957 survey «The year 2030: AI or engineer?».

  1. How will the broadcasting industry and broadcast technologies change in the next 5 years?
  2. If we model the world of broadcasting and broadcast tech in 2030, what role will AI play?
  3. How will AI change your business segment?
  4. Which professions will AI displace in the broadcasting technology industry by 2030?

1. In the next 5 years, there’s going to be a significant influence in terms of redundancy, intelligent switching, and predictive redundancy. Being able to take all of the analytics from IP protocols, APIs, and things like that, AI will enhance the robustness of both on-premise and in-cloud systems. These are the kinds of workflows we’re working on.

2. I think AI will make content more interactive by leveraging the massive amounts of information it can analyze, quickly creating customized content and experiences for the end user. I believe things will become increasingly interactive and tailored to individual users or customers.

3. It’s hard to say because AI is evolving so quickly. But as I mentioned, in terms of content robustness and interactivity, I think those are going to be the biggest areas of influence for us in the next 6-7 years.

4. I think a lot of it will come down to operational cost savings. Roles involving monitoring analytics or general monitoring will likely become AI-driven tasks. AI will be able to analyze data from equipment and software, identify issues, and react accordingly. I believe engineering and operations positions may be affected or replaced by AI.

All the opinions of industry leaders can be seen in the survey “Year 2030: AI or Engineer?”.
