Island 92, a radio station located in St. Martin in the Caribbean and part of the Caribbean Broadcasting Network, has resumed its full operations after a period of being off-air.
The station had suffered water and heat damage to its antennas and data center due to a fire in District 721.
Equipment Upgrade to Digital Environment
The station’s technical management recently upgraded all its equipment to a digital environment. The ON-AIR studio is now equipped with an AEQ Forum IP Split console, while the production studio features an AEQ Capitol IP console.
Features of AEQ Forum IP Split Console
The AEQ Forum IP Split is designed for ON-AIR broadcast control and includes essential features such as automatic monitor cut, cough cut, faderstart, signaling control, control signals for external equipment automation, management of external communications, and intercommunication. Its modular design and small size make it suitable for various scenarios, including self-control, control-locutory, television production controls, sound production, mixed configurations, and integration into large installations.
Specifications of AEQ Capitol IP Console
The AEQ Capitol IP is an 8-channel fixed configuration Digital Audio mixing console. It features a single module with 16 input and 16 output channels incorporated in its core. The console offers a wide input capacity, including 4 mic/line, 12 analogue, 4 digital stereo AES/EBU (AES3), 2 digital stereo USB, 2 optional telephone lines, and optional digital multichannel audio links. It supports 16 AoIP channels over two ethernet connectors or 64 MADI channels input over optical fiber.

The station’s system is complemented by the Systel IP conference system and the Netbox 32 AD MX interface for simultaneous transmission.
Island 92 is now back with its usual lineup of music and entertainment programs, fully operational with upgraded digital equipment.
