RTVCE Broadcast Facilities with AEQ Intercom

Radiotelevisión Ceuta (RTVCE), the municipal media company of Ceuta, has upgraded its communication infrastructure by integrating AEQ’s Xplorer MAX wireless intercom system.

The broadcaster, founded in 2000, currently operates public television and radio (99.0 FM) with a staff of around 30 professionals.

Technology Overview

The AEQ Xplorer MAX beltpack uses advanced digital radio technology and includes multiple programmable keys, a multifunction display, and compatibility with AEQ’s intercom matrices, including Conexia, Crossnet, and TH5000. It can also work with Xpeak or Easynet systems.
The system supports up to 20 transceivers per antenna, reaching 700 meters in open areas, and allows linking up to four antennas for expanded coverage.

Implementation Details

The new setup includes:

  • AEQ Crossnet 72 matrix

  • Four AEQ TP8116 rack panels

  • One AEQ TP8116 + EP8116 32-button rack panel

  • Two AEQ TP8416 desktop panels

  • Four PHOENIX VENUS 4 codecs for IP and VoIP calls

Operational Impact

RTVCE’s Technical Director, Ricardo Lacasa, stated that the change from the previous KROMA TM6000 analog matrix to AEQ’s Crossnet 72 significantly improved coordination across workstations. The new Xplorer MAX system now provides full coverage throughout the 800 m² facility with a single antenna.

Conclusion

This update strengthens RTVCE’s communication capabilities, ensuring efficient coordination for its television and radio operations. The project was managed by RTVCE’s technical services together with AEQ’s regional manager, Bernardo Saiz.
