AK-PLV100GJ: Panasonic develops New 4K PL Mount Studio Camera

Panasonic is adding to its range of studio cameras with the launch of the AK-PLV100GJ, a studio camera designed to help streaming production teams make content more exciting and engaging.

“The camera includes a super 35mm 5.7K MOS sensor and PL mount, which enables users to create video with a shallow depth of field to bring it closer to the director’s intention,” said Panasonic.

It also features SMPTE ST 2110 compatibility, enabling a more streamlined connection to the KAIROS IT/IP platform.

Panasonic said SMPTE ST 2110 input/output will be possible directly from the AK-PLV100GJ camera head without connecting to a CCU, enabling IP-based live production with just the camera.

Users can also output 12G-SDI signals directly from the camera head, allowing for flexible system construction and wide-ranging operations, said the company. The camera head is fully compatible with the accessories for Panasonic’s 2/3-inch studio-camera line-up. You can replace the existing camera head with the AK-PLV100GJ.

“The AK-PLV100GJ brings an innovative combination of the features and capabilities of a studio camera, while seamlessly integrating with the AK-UCU600 or AK-HCU250 for systemised camera control and cinematic quality, ” said Andre Meterian, director of professional video systems for Panasonic Connect Europe.

“Moving forward, we will continue to enhance live video broadcasting of music and sporting events with innovative solutions for on-site production, including IP-based studio cameras for advanced production and flexible system construction.”

Price & Availability

There is no indication of pricing for the AK-PLV100GJ, but it will be available in the first few months of 2023.
