Riedel Communications has announced that AMP VISUAL TV has recently completed the construction of one of its cutting-edge OB vans, featuring Riedel’s MediorNet real-time media network and wired/wireless intercom systems.
This new addition to AMP VISUAL TV’s fleet, known as Millenium Signature 19, comes just in time for the Rugby World Cup in France. This move reflects the ongoing expansion of their OB van fleet, which utilizes Riedel technology to enable flexible connections between mobile production units, following a modular approach for various live productions.
François Valadoux, Executive Vice President and CTO at AMP VISUAL TV, expressed their satisfaction with Riedel’s technology integration: “With Riedel’s MediorNet technology built into the DNA of our OB van fleet, we’ve been able to achieve amazing flexibility, scalability, and resilience. Our interconnectable Millenium and Millenium Signature fleet now allows us to reliably produce any event, both remote or on-site. Completion of this new OB van is yet another step forward in a larger technological transformation — along with Riedel deployments in our media center and TV studios — that enables our business to leverage smart concepts and solutions to raise the bar both for live production and quality of service for our customers.”
The MediorNet network’s unique TDM/IP ST 2110 hybrid capability has proven invaluable in facilitating a smooth transition to IP technology. Its distributed nature offers several advantages for AMP VISUAL TV, including seamless interconnection of different production vehicles and control rooms, contributing to an efficient operational workflow. For communication needs, AMP VISUAL TV has adopted Riedel’s latest Artist-1024 node and the innovative SmartPanel series concept, which can serve as a communication panel, control panel, or audio monitoring panel. Riedel’s Bolero intercom system provides reliable, high-quality wireless communications, playing a crucial role in their daily operations.
François Valadoux continued to emphasize Riedel’s role: “Thanks to its roots, its own story, and its corporate culture, Riedel fully understands the technological challenges on the ground and manages to translate them into smart technologies aimed at serving live content coverage. Riedel solutions are conceptualized, designed, and built to enable unique user experiences. The company itself has been a trusted technology partner for us over the years — part of our past success and a contributor to our ongoing transformation.”
It’s worth noting that AMP VISUAL TV’s reliance on Riedel technology extends beyond its OB vans. Their Media Center and multiple TV studios in Paris also depend on a redundant telecom backbone, also built using Riedel technology. All these resources will be essential as the company takes on some of the world’s largest and most popular sports competitions in the coming year.
Franck Berger, Regional Sales Director, Southern Europe, for Riedel Communications, expressed pride in their ongoing partnership with AMP VISUAL TV: “We’re proud to play a part in AMP VISUAL TV’s ongoing innovation — and its market leadership — in live production across Europe. The company’s implementation of MediorNet throughout its growing fleet and across its fixed facilities is a showcase of the power, flexibility, and scalability enabled by distributed real-time hybrid networks.”
