Aputure is preparing to introduce its latest innovation, the INFINIMAT light mats, which are scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2024.
These light mats are a new addition to the lighting market, featuring both a traditional thin mat configuration and an expandable option with built-in inflatable diffusion. The expansion does not require the airbags to be used, as they can be attached or removed using a simple Velcro mechanism.
Flexible Design and Usage
The INFINIMATs can function as standalone units or be linked together to form larger light sources. Each panel is equipped with pixel color control, and multiple lights can be managed from a single control box. The control boxes come in two capacities, 400w and 1600w, capable of powering several mats simultaneously. These mats are designed with either 1×2 or 2×2 pixel configurations, and every pixel is replaceable, enhancing maintenance ease. The modular nature of these mats allows for various configurations, such as the 20×20 system which integrates four 8×8 mats into a single airbag setup.
Control and Versatility
Managing a setup with individual controllers for each panel can be cumbersome, which is why the single control box feature is a significant enhancement. It simplifies the creation of extensive panel arrays. These features make the INFINIMATs versatile enough for both routine use in small spaces and for combining into large-scale, specialty lighting arrays on film sets through pixel-mapping.
Durability and Application
Rated IP65 for weather resistance, INFINIMATs are robust enough for use in various environmental conditions. They can be set up quickly and either used as grouped units or individually. This makes them suitable for a range of applications from portable soft lighting for documentary filmmakers, who might need sizes like 1’x2’, 1’x4’, and 2’x4’, to larger productions requiring 4’x4’, 8’x8’, and 20’x20’ soft light sources.
Market Preparation
In the final stages of development, Aputure has been showcasing the INFINIMAT designs to gaffers and directors of photography worldwide, gathering feedback to refine and perfect the system. This consultation aims to ensure the INFINIMATs meet industry needs and set new standards for lighting systems.
As the release date approaches, the film and photography industries eagerly anticipate the arrival of the INFINIMATs, promising innovative solutions for both small and large scale lighting needs.
