ARRI, a leading manufacturer in the cinematography lighting industry, has unveiled LiOS3, the most recent update to its lighting software.
This update introduces a host of new functionalities specifically tailored for the SkyPanel X, marking a significant advancement in lighting technology.
Key Features and Compatibility
LiOS3 is equipped with several notable features aimed at enhancing the user experience. These include the integration of ARRI ALEXA Modes, support for DMX Mode Spec 6.0, compatibility with LumenRadio CRMX2, the introduction of modularity for array setups, and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity through the ARRI LiCo application. This software update is the default firmware for all variants of the SkyPanel X product line.
Unified Platform and Orbiter Compatibility
Significantly, LiOS serves as a unified software and firmware platform applicable to both the SkyPanel X and the Orbiter lighting fixtures. However, it’s important to note that while LiOS3 can be installed on any Orbiter fixture, the current version (LiOS3.0.13) is only in Beta for the Orbiter. A fully tested and show-ready update for the Orbiter is anticipated to be released shortly.
Enhancements for SkyPanel X and Orbiter
The update is designed to streamline the user interface and customization options for both the SkyPanel X and Orbiter, building upon ARRI’s LED lighting features. Specifically, the SkyPanel X now includes three ALEXA Modes, which are compatible with the color science used in the ALEXA 35 and earlier ALEXA/AMIRA cameras, offering users a broader range of color science compatibility and enhancing the creative possibilities.
