ARRI, a trailblazer in cinematic tools, introduces TRINITY Live, an upgrade option for the first-generation TRINITY Gen.1 camera stabilizer system.
This move underscores ARRI’s commitment to delivering specialized tools that infuse a cinematic aesthetic into broadcast applications. The upgrade, encompassing new hardware, wiring, and connectivity, enhances TRINITY Live for live productions and integrates seamlessly with the ARRI Multicam System and third-party broadcast camera applications.
Broadcast Innovation Unveiled at NAB Show
At the NAB Show in Las Vegas, ARRI unveils two groundbreaking products: Camera Control Panel CCP Live and Tally System Gen.2. These additions extend the broadcast capabilities of existing ARRI cameras and camera stabilizer systems. TRINITY Live perfectly complements these innovations, providing an ideal solution for effortlessly incorporating stabilized ARRI cameras into dynamic, multi-camera broadcast environments.
Revolutionary Placement of Wireless Video Link
TRINITY Live introduces a novel approach by placing the wireless video link, a necessity for broadcast work, at the bottom of the system instead of on the camera, as conventionally done. This strategic positioning, exemplified by the Vislink system, serves a dual purpose as a counterweight during rig balancing, reducing the overall weight by up to 4 kg / 8.8 lb. Moreover, this placement contributes to a more stable wireless signal, as the antenna undergoes rotation within a smaller radius and experiences fewer height fluctuations compared to its typical attachment to the back of the camera.
Enhanced Connectivity at the Core
Central to the TRINITY Live upgrade is heightened connectivity, featuring four new 4G video lines and a 10 Gbit shielded Ethernet line facilitating the innovative wireless video link position. The connectors for these new video lines necessitate a comprehensive upgrade kit, including a new center post, post connection, top stage junction box, and wiring loom.
Versatile Video Capabilities
TRINITY Live boasts five 4G video lines in total. The four new lines support the wireless video link with up to four quad link signals (4 x 3G) or two video lines for Dual SDI (2 x 6G) requirements. The fifth video line serves as a playback line, enabling operators to view the program image on a second monitor wirelessly transmitted from the OB van to the TRINITY Live. Simultaneously, an additional internal 10 Gbit Ethernet line provides the OB van with comprehensive camera control and communication.
Maximizing Investment Returns
Curt O. Schaller, ARRI’s Product Manager for Camera Stabilizer Systems, expresses satisfaction with the TRINITY Live upgrade, highlighting its role in extending the life and functionality of TRINITY Gen.1. For operators aspiring to venture into broadcast applications with TRINITY Live and lacking a TRINITY Gen.1, the recommended approach is through the ARRI Certified Pre-Owned program. Alternatively, if sourced elsewhere, thorough checks at any local ARRI service center are advised to ensure the equipment is in optimal working order for the upgrade before purchase.
Tailored TRINITY Upgrade Options
Two additional TRINITY upgrade options cater to specific TRINITY Live use cases. The ARRI Master Grip TRINITY upgrade empowers operators with simultaneous control over a zoom lens and the stabilizer’s tilt axis through a common LBUS controller. The 24 V upgrade for TRINITY Live ensures reliable 24 V camera power, essential for operators flying ALEXA Mini LF, ALEXA 35, or Sony Venice. TRINITY Gen.1 rigs previously upgraded to 24 V must undergo fitting with this new 24 V upgrade as part of the TRINITY Live conversion.
