ARRI has introduced the new TRINITY Skater, designed to expedite the process of balancing the TRINITY stabilizer. When setting up any kind of gimbal or stabilizing equipment, any tool that can streamline the procedure is a valuable addition.
The TRINITY Skater simplifies and accelerates the balancing of the TRINITY. It comprises a robust base support with two wheels, both equipped with ultra-low friction ball bearings.
How it operates: Place the TRINITY rig horizontally on the Skater, and it will guide you in positioning batteries and accessories for achieving optimal weight distribution and balance.
Once the TRINITY rig is in a horizontal position on the Skater, the operator can assess how the batteries and attached accessories affect the rig’s balance. The Skater functions as a precise measuring tool, allowing the operator to determine the best placement of batteries and necessary accessories on the sled to achieve perfect balance and weight distribution. If the wheels on the Skater show signs of wear, two spare wheels are included.
This new approach breaks down the balancing process into four distinct steps:
- Balancing the lower sled/rig
- Balancing the TILT axis of the TRINITY head
- Balancing the camera in 16 neutral positions
- Balancing the entire system
One notable advantage is that the first two balancing steps can now be performed even without a camera, such as the day before the actual shoot, whether in a hotel or at home. For the first step, balancing the lower sled/rig, the new TRINITY Skater is essential.
