Interview with Art Gonzales, Vice President of Product Management, Pliant Technologies at ISE 2024.
I’m Art Gonzalez with Pliant Technologies, here at ISE 2024. At this year’s show, we are introducing a new addition to our MicroCom XR lineup.
MicroCom XR, for those who are not familiar with it, is our entry-level digital wireless intercom system that allows multiple users without a base station. This particular version operates in the 863 MHz band, which is legal across Europe. We also offer a 2.4 GHz solution, but with the 863 MHz version, you can have up to six full-duplex users all in the same location at the same time, again, without a base station. You can also plug in any of our standard smartphone-style headsets. Additionally, we have the ability to switch between two different channels, so if you want to work with, let’s say, an audio channel and a production channel, you can set up users individually to give them access or not to particular channels.

In addition to that, we have a new feature called Dual Listen that allows you to listen to both the A and B channels simultaneously. This is especially useful if you’re a producer who needs to toggle back and forth between two channels. This system is at an entry-level price point and is popular because it does not use a base station.
We also have here at the show our standard CrewCom system. CrewCom is our higher-end system used for larger installations where you may have multiple rooms or locations that you need to roam between. One of the things we’ve introduced at this show is our entry-level belt pack. Previously, we had two other types of belt packs: a two-volume and a four-volume version with a display. We’ve taken that same form and made it into a more accessible and lower-cost solution in terms of the belt pack. This new belt pack can be used with the CrewCom system as well. It is also a two-channel belt pack, so you have an A and a B channel, and it includes the Dual Listen function, allowing you to listen to both A and B channels simultaneously or switch back and forth easily and quickly. That’s what’s new here at the ISE show 2024.
