Astera, a leading developer of innovative lighting solutions for the film, event, and TV markets, received the Best of Show award from film-tv-video.de at Euro Cine Expo 2024.
The award recognized Astera’s new LunaBulb, which was launched in June.

Astera was honored with the Best of Show award for its LunaBulb, following their previous success in 2023 when they were shortlisted for the PlutoFresnel. The LunaBulb mimics a traditional bulb’s appearance while incorporating LED technology for lower power consumption and wireless control.
Technical Specifications
The LunaBulb uses only 3.5 watts and is available with E26, E27, and B22 fittings. It features the Titan LED engine, allowing precise, flicker-free control of white levels (1,750 – 20,000K) and a range of colors (RGB, Mint, Amber). The LunaBulb integrates seamlessly with other Astera lights, providing a comprehensive ecosystem for gaffers.
Design Features
The LunaBulb can switch between a classic bulb and a slimline form via a spring-loaded clip, offering versatility in use. It can either mimic a conventional bulb aesthetic or fit into other lighting fixtures for a practical light source with high control and adaptability.
PrepCase Integration
A key part of the judge’s decision was the accompanying PrepCase. This case allows eight bulbs to be pre-configured on the move, is battery-powered, and auto-assigns DMX addresses. Users can adjust the bulbs using Bluetooth Bridge, the Astera App, or Astera remotes, making the LunaBulb adaptable to various workflows.

Christine Gebhard, Editor-in-Chief of film-tv-video.de, praised Astera’s innovative approach, fitting advanced LED technology into a traditional bulb design. She highlighted the challenge of evaluating diverse film products but commended Astera’s unique concept.

He noted that while maintaining the aesthetic and history of traditional lighting, Astera aims to enhance practicality and efficiency.
