Ateme launches 5G streaming solution

Ateme, a global leader in video compression, delivery and streaming solutions, has launched its 5G streaming solution, bringing powerful and compelling video experiences to mobile users.

The solution has already been used in the Eurovision Song Contest and a major tennis tournament, as well as by the government-backed 5G Vista consortium for a stadium project in the UK.

With Ateme’s 5G streaming solution, sports fans, news fans and TV show song contest enthusiasts can enjoy unique video content on their mobile devices while commuting or watching a game in a stadium. They can also watch live TV from home, regardless of which mobile carrier they subscribe to.

What’s more, on the go or at home, viewers can enjoy flawless UHD video quality from their mobile connected devices.

In stadiums, the enhanced features provided by this solution include viewing the game live from different angles, which is especially useful in the case of car racing, when what is happening elsewhere on the track may not be visible to some spectators, as well as repeated view the most important activities on almost live channels.

Ateme’s 5G streaming solution delivers superior image quality and low latency regardless of the number of users. This is achieved with integrated 5G broadcast technology from infrastructure technology provider Rohde & Schwarz, efficient compression using powerful codecs such as VVC, low-latency Common Media Application Format (CMAF) streaming, and reduced transmission latency with 5G Multi, access to Edge Computing (MEC) architecture.

“With 5G, mobile video consumption is expected to flourish with UHD content and new metaverse video services,” – said Williams Tovar, director of 5G media streaming solutions at Ateme. – “The new opportunities and flexibility brought by 5G is a fantastic opportunity to create an immersive experience and engage an actively connected younger generation. We are excited to introduce new mobile video services and capabilities that will increase viewer engagement and loyalty, resulting in higher revenue for both network operators and content providers.”

Ateme is an active member of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP*), a consortium of standards organizations responsible for developing and maintaining 5G standards, and the 5G-Media Action Group (5G-MAG), an industry association responsible for defining, implementing and activation of the 5G Media ecosystem.

Ateme’s 5G streaming solution is showcased at the European Digital Forum in Lucca, Italy from June 16-17.
