Audient has announced the introduction of the iD24, a new 10-input/14-output audio interface that joins the iD14 and the more recently launched iD44 in terms of functionality, sonic performance and feature set.
“iD24 is made with producers and engineers in mind,” says Andy Allen of Audient. “We’ve combined astonishing audio performance with ease of use whilst providing more features aimed at professionals such as balanced inserts, ADAT expandability and customizable monitor control.”
iD24 is equipped with two Audient mic preamps, which offer the same discrete circuit design as those found in the company’s flagship ASP8024-HE console. The converters utilize 32-bit DAC converter technology that help in delivering a stated 126 dB of dynamic range.
“We want to ensure our customers can hear their audio with incredible clarity,” Allen notes. “Being able to hear those subtle details is really important as it helps users to feel more confident when making recording and mix decisions. We know the modern engineer often needs to be ready to handle bigger sessions like recording drums or a live band, and iD24’s optical input and output connections give you the ability to scale up your rig quickly and cost effectively.”
Supporting both ADAT and SPDIF, iD24 gives the option to boost input capabilities by adding up to eight channels of external mic preamps. Monitoring features that include Speaker Select, Talkback, Polarity Invert and Mono can be assigned to any of the three programmable function buttons. This gives users the ability to customize their setup and, for example, be able to quickly alternate between loudspeakers, reference a mix in mono or communicate with an article, all directly from the hardware.
iD24 is bus powered via a USB-C connection and also includes dual headphones outputs, four line outputs and a dedicated low-latency software mixer. It’s now shipping and is priced at £299 inc VAT, €349 inc Local VAT and $399 MAP.
