Avid Enhances MediaCentral with New Production-Boosting Features

Avid has announced significant updates to its MediaCentral workflow platform, offering tools designed to enhance the efficiency of broadcasters and media organizations. These updates facilitate faster production both on-premises and cloud-based environments.

The newly introduced Blueprint Builder within the MediaCentral | Collaborate tool provides newsroom teams the flexibility to customize their planning and approval workflows. This feature allows for the incorporation of specific attributes needed for production, streamlining the workflow process.

Accelerated Content Gathering with Collections App

The Collections app acts as a virtual clipboard, enabling users to quickly compile content necessary for their stories. This improvement simplifies the material collection process, effectively reducing the time required for the creative development phase.

Improved Send To Playback Functionality

The platform now offers enhanced Send To Playback capabilities, allowing for the immediate transfer of partially complete feeds to FastServe | Playout servers. This eliminates the need for editing feeds into a timeline before transfer, thus saving valuable production time.

Rundown App Updates in MediaCentral | Cloud UX

Significant updates have been made to the Rundown app within the MediaCentral | Cloud UX, offering more detailed timing information and enabling additional tasks to be completed within the web-based application. This enhancement aims at improving workflow efficiency.

Advanced User-Rights Management and Metadata Customization

MediaCentral | Acquire introduces refined user-rights management, enabling precise control over multiple ingest and playout devices. The platform now supports the addition of custom metadata, including mandatory fields, at the ingest stage. This feature enhances clip discoverability, reduces search times, and expedites the delivery of stories.

Avid’s Commitment to Efficient Production

Dave Colantuoni, Avid’s Vice President of Product Management for Video and Media Solutions, emphasized the company’s dedication to meeting broadcasters’ needs for quick and efficient content delivery. According to Colantuoni, these updates are part of Avid’s ongoing efforts to boost creativity and operational efficiency, assisting media enterprises in providing superior content to their audience more swiftly.
