Avid | Stream IO Expands with New Features

Avid updates its broadcast production platform, enhancing channel count, playlist building, captioning, and codec support.

Avid, a leader in software for broadcast production, has significantly upgraded its Avid | Stream IO subscription platform. The Avid | Stream IO platform now boasts a doubled channel count, accommodating up to eight channels in a single system. This enhancement allows for greater flexibility in configuring inputs and outputs, meeting the diverse needs of modern broadcast production.

One of the key features of this update is the ability to construct media playlists directly from the Avid | Stream IO web remote console. This functionality provides a reliable backup for studio playback automation, ensuring smooth production processes even in the event of automation failures.

In addition to these features, Avid | Stream IO has broadened its codec support. The platform now includes AVC-LongG12 and 25 formats, expanding the range of media files that can be efficiently managed and played out. This update addresses the evolving requirements of broadcast production, offering more versatility in handling various media formats.

Tim Claman

Speaking about the additions, Tim Claman, Chief Product Officer at Avid, said, “The enhancements in this new release of Avid | Stream IO is part of our drive to enable Avid customers to stay ahead of the increasing demand to accelerate the delivery of quality news, sports and live entertainment content.”
