AWS Showcases at NAB 2024 in Las Vegas

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is set to present a notable demonstration of live newsroom production utilizing cloud technology at the upcoming National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, scheduled for April 13-17, 2024.

This initiative, a collaboration with NVIDIA, is in alignment with the event’s theme, ‘Where Content Comes to Life’. AWS will exhibit its media and entertainment (M&E) solutions, designed to assist customers in content creation, delivery, and monetization, at their booth located in West Hall (W1701) of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC). Over 30 generative artificial intelligence (AI) demonstrations will also be featured.

Highlights from AWS at NAB 2024

A new introduction in 2024, AWS will operate a cloud-based live news broadcast throughout the NAB Show. This includes the “Good Morning, NAB!” program, a one-hour morning show set to start each day of the event. The production will feature a news desk and camera setup in the LVCC West Hall lobby and a Production Control Room within the AWS booth. The broadcast will emphasize the capabilities of Live Cloud Production (LCP) on AWS, powered by NVIDIA GPU-backed Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) G4 and G5 instances, demonstrating remote graphics overlay, editing, and more.

The live broadcast will be accessible in the AWS booth, on the NAB Show website, and on select screens throughout the conference halls, with additional coverage from roving reporters on the show floor.

Main Stage Presentation on Generative AI

Dr. Matt Wood, Vice President of Artificial Intelligence products at AWS, Julie Souza, Global Leader, Strategic Business Development, Sports at AWS, Aaron Amendolia, NFL Deputy CIO, and Scott Gutterman, PGA TOUR Senior Vice President Digital Operations, will partake in a discussion about the impact of generative AI in the industry. The panel, moderated by Kaylee Hartung of Thursday Night Football, is scheduled for April 15, from 11:30am-12:30pm.

The AWS Booth Experience

AWS returns with an expanded booth, featuring a double-decker layout and a new “Builder Zone” for attendees to engage with AWS service team experts. The booth will showcase demos tailored to broadcast and live production, monetization, direct-to-consumer services, media supply chain and archive, data science and analytics, and content production.

AWS Partner Village and Learning Lounge

Situated adjacent to the AWS booth, the Partner Village and Learning Lounge will offer interactions with AWS Partners, workshops, and a theater for presentations by M&E industry experts.

AWS Generative AI Golf Experience

Located in the Upper South Hall, the AWS generative AI golf experience allows attendees to simulate playing on famous golf courses and design their own courses using AWS generative AI tools.

Women’s Leadership Summit

AWS sponsors the “#GALSNGEAR CONNECT” event on April 16, a program aimed at advancing women’s careers in media and entertainment, featuring a keynote by Samira Bakhtiar, General Manager at AWS.

NAB Show Excellence in Sustainability Awards

AWS sponsors the awards recognizing sustainable innovations in the industry, with the ceremony including a panel discussion and charity donations, set for April 14.
