Backlight Returns to NAB with Enhancements

Backlight Returns to NAB Show with Enhanced Offerings

Backlight is set to make a comeback at the NAB Show in Las Vegas this April, bringing its cutting-edge and recognized solutions to the forefront.

The company has advanced its product lines through strategic integrations and updates since the previous year, aiming to boost efficiency, security, and flexibility for cloud-based video workflows.

Comprehensive Product Showcase

The company’s array of products, including iconik, cineSync, ftrack, Celtx, Gem, Wildmoka Clip Studio, Live Studio, and Zype, will be presented in full. The Backlight team will be stationed at booth SL4114 in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, ready to offer demonstrations and engage with attendees.

Product Integrations and Enhancements

iconik’s Evolution and Collaborations After winning the NAB Pilot Challenge last year, iconik has expanded its capabilities through numerous integrations, notably with Zype and ftrack, enhancing creative and distribution workflows. The iconik + Zype Connector merges media storage, collaboration, and review with streaming and OTT workflows, providing a unified MAM + CMS solution for content preparation and distribution. Meanwhile, an impending integration between ftrack and iconik will streamline project management, production tracking, and media management processes.

AWS Support and iconik Deployment Backlight has also announced that iconik can now be deployed on AWS, complementing its existing AWS S3 storage support. This move allows enterprise customers to maintain their data, transcoding, and proxies within the AWS ecosystem, potentially reducing network costs and latency. AWS will feature demonstrations at the NAB Show to showcase how iconik, alongside AWS ISV partners, can optimize media supply chains.

New Features and Functionalities

Wildmoka Clip Studio Advances The introduction of Live Speech-to-Text and Text-Based Editing in Wildmoka Clip Studio marks a significant advancement, allowing users to search live feeds through text and edit clips with precision. This feature supports English, Spanish, and French, enhancing accessibility and efficiency in video editing.

Metadata Automation Innovation Addressing the challenge of generating engaging descriptive metadata, Backlight introduces an innovative solution that automates this process. By analyzing closed captions or speech-to-text outputs, it suggests titles, descriptions, and tags, streamlining content production.

Enhancing Live Production and Distribution

Vertical Content Workflows and Live Studio Updates Backlight is set to demonstrate comprehensive workflows for editing and distributing vertical content. These workflows encompass source acquisition, content production, reframing, and publication across various platforms. Furthermore, Live Studio now accommodates remote guests, facilitating live contributions through a simple web link.

Zype Playout’s New Features Zype Playout debuts several new features, including Calendar View and rule-based Dynamic Blocks, enabling the strategic planning and execution of automated channels. These features offer flexibility in managing live and recycled content across primary and secondary channels, optimizing scheduling and advertising strategies.
