Barix, a leader in IP audio innovation, has introduced the MultiCoder M400, a cutting-edge, low-latency, multi-format encoding solution.
This new product is set to debut at the ISE 2024 event in Barcelona. The MultiCoder M400 is designed to transmit audio streams in four different formats to various receiving points.
Enhanced Performance with FLEXA Platform
The device integrates Barix’s latest FLEXA platform, boosting its buffering performance, facilitating easier application development, and enhancing device prototyping. The FLEXA platform’s advanced buffering capabilities eliminate all stream buffering within the MultiCoder M400. This feature is particularly significant due to the device’s multiple encoding engines. The device can encode audio in OPUS, AAC+, PCM, and 320KB mp3 formats, allowing for the transmission of multiple audio RTP/BRTP streams to receiving devices promptly while maintaining exceptional quality.
Diverse Applications and Superior CPU Capacity
The MultiCoder M400 distinguishes itself from Barix’s existing Instreamer IP audio encoders, such as the Instreamer Classic and Instreamer ICE, by supporting a wider range of use cases. While the Instreamer Classic is optimized for live IP audio encoding and the Instreamer ICE is ideal for streaming to Icecast servers, the MultiCoder M400’s greater CPU capacity provides ample room for new features and applications, enabling extensive customization and ongoing development.
First to Support High-Efficiency Codecs
This device is the first in the Barix encoder line to support high-efficiency AAC+ and OPUS codecs. It allows users in various industries, including Pro AV and entertainment, to send more streams within the same bandwidth at lower bitrates than less efficient codecs.
Security and Compatibility Features
Reto Brader, CEO of Barix, highlights the MultiCoder M400 as a secure and reliable solution for organizations needing to cater to different receiving platforms, including Barix Exstreamer IP audio decoders and online media players. He assures that the underlying Barix FLEXA platform adheres to the strictest security standards, including HTTPS for device setup. The MultiCoder M400 is compatible with the newly released Exstreamer M400 and can also pair with legacy Exstreamer decoders, ensuring its utility across large enterprise organizations.
