BCNEXXT is set to showcase the future of playout operations at IBC 2024, introducing a new version of their cloud-native solution, Vipe.
The highlight of this presentation will be Vipe RT, which extends the cost efficiency already seen in hundreds of entertainment channels to live sports and events.
Enhanced Flexibility and Reliability
Vipe offers unparalleled flexibility, market-leading reliability, full customization, and remote operations. It consolidates Linear, FAST, VoD, and Streaming silos onto a common platform with a single point of technical and financial management. Vipe RT, designed specifically for sports and live events, is a separate engine that performs real-time processing upstream from Vipe’s playout engine. This optional upgrade can be added to an existing Premium Vipe playout channel to handle daily live sports and events.

Automation and Control
“Vipe RT provides previously unseen levels of automation and unmatched reliability to sports and live events,” stated Graham Sharp, CEO of BCNEXXT, USA. The new Live Operator panel allows real-time control over functions like switching, graphics selection, emergency slates, and audio mapping, enhanced by a low-latency Web RTC confidence monitor.

Efficiency and Cost Reduction
The goal of Vipe RT is to maximize resource and personnel efficiency, cut capital expenses, and provide broadcasters and live event organizers with the flexibility to create and shut down services as needed. The latest Vipe release includes over 80 Quality Control (QC) checks and a user-friendly GUI that automates repetitive tasks and reduces operator errors. The playbook “Transform Your Media Business” outlines BCNEXXT’s benchmark model for content playout and distribution, showing companies how to streamline their media operations.
Dynamic Resource Management
Vipe leverages cloud dynamics to scale resources according to content processing needs. It differentiates content complexity to allocate resources accordingly, provisioning and releasing resources for the duration of complex live events. This dynamic resource management reduces operational costs by up to 60% for file-based channels and potentially more for live sports and news. QC is conducted ahead of time, driving 99.9999% reliability in a lights-out-operation mode for thematic channels.
Simplified Media Supply Chains
Vipe simplifies media supply chains and reduces the operator-to-channel ratio. Organizations can deploy new channels without upfront costs using a pay-as-you-go model. At IBC 2024, BCNEXXT will showcase additional capabilities, including:
Break Containers: Adapt quickly to changing break playout requirements, ideal for complex games without fixed break times, like baseball or cricket.
Swimlane View: Allows a single operator to manage nested channel variants, targeting multichannel playout with regional content and ads.
Low-Latency Output: Enables live subtitling for live events and late-arriving file-based content.
CPU-Only Rendering and Playout: Provides more deployment flexibility.
Efficient Resource Management: Schedules and manifests create versions for all distribution channels, stored in the compressed TS format. Vipe can be deployed across public and private clouds, as well as on-premises, with optimized compute usage for lower energy consumption and sustainable operations.
BCNEXXT’s presentation at IBC 2024 will highlight these innovations, emphasizing Vipe’s capabilities to revolutionize media operations.
