Visit to MY5 TV Channel as Part of “Broadcasting / Cinema 2024 Uzbekistan” Conference in Tashkent.
The TV channel Mening Yurtim (MY5), translated from Uzbek as “My Land,” was established in 2014 as a youth-oriented cultural and educational channel.
The target audience was chosen to be the most active part of the population—youth.
In 2022, the channel began its technical transformation.
As of 2024, the channel operates eight studios, with plans to build an additional production pavilion soon.
“With the New Year approaching, we have many ideas and plans. We’ve realized that technical equipment is crucial for the development of the channel,” said Bakhtiyor Turakhanov, General Producer of Mening Yurtim.
“MY5 is the first private TV channel. We are usually ranked among the top TV channels in Uzbekistan. Currently, we are in third place, but the market in Uzbekistan is developing, and other stakeholders are investing in their channels. For example, ZOR-TV has over ten pavilions, each larger than our entire office. We are located in a basement, with no building of our own,” said Kabuldzhon Akhmedov, General Director of MY5. “When I joined in 2018, the channel had nothing. Cameras were rented, transportation was by taxi, and there were no pavilions. I asked the Chairman of the Youth Union, Kahramon Kuranbaev (MY5’s founders are NAESMI and the Youth Union), not to touch the dividends for at least three years. They agreed, and as a result, we acquired vehicles and about 50 cameras.”
The channel has a correspondent and operator in each of Uzbekistan’s 14 regions.
The Tashkent studio is equipped with 70 cameras and over 200 computers.
Approximately 200 people work directly for the channel. Additionally, there are dozens of production studios with hundreds of employees creating content for MY5.
TFT1957 extends its heartfelt gratitude to the MY5 team for an engaging tour, with special thanks to General Producer Bakhtiyor Turakhanov and Fariddin Sharapov. We greatly appreciate your professionalism and hospitality. We look forward to future collaborations and many exciting joint projects ahead!
The next Broadcasting / Cinema conference will take place on December 3-4 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
