Interview with Phill Lane, VP Sales, EMEA at BirdDog at ISE 2024.
Hi, I’m Phill Lane from BirdDog, and we’re at ISE 2024, showing a number of NDI workflows and products, based around implementation into all kinds of different environments, from houses of worship, education, broadcast, and all kinds of different verticals. I currently look after the sales channel for the EMEA region. We have a number of distributors located in various countries that help us out and provide demonstrations and offer help and assistance with equipment.
TKT1957: What new products is your company showcasing at ISE 2024?
Phill: At the show this year, we’re not really showing anything particularly new in terms of products and hardware from ourselves. Most of the focus this year is on workflow. So, we’re showing our integration into systems like the Densitron control panels, Crestron LiveU, SNS, and also one of the main ones is Q-sys. We have an API library that spans all of our products and is standardized across them as well. That library can then be used to program third-party control panels to interface and operate our products. Q-sys has a really nice emulator which allows you to drag and drop our API commands into their system to create your own interface to control cameras and converters, decoders, encoders exactly the way that you want them to for your environment.
We’ve also got a cloud system running here as well. Cloud 10 was announced a couple of weeks ago. Cloud is something that we announced originally back in 2019, and has been gradually adding functions and features to it over the last four years. It’s now to the point where it’s a really mature, intuitive production tool for live production or live remote productions, and we also have some post-production workflows built in.
We work very closely with Adobe, who have a plugin directly into Adobe Premiere that allows an editor to create a session that can be viewed by the producer or director anywhere else in the world. It’s a really nice system. Cloud provides you the ability to control cameras, have tally, audio, video, sound information, broadcast over great distances with very low latency. With all of our products, we’re starting to include cloud connectivity, so your camera can become a cloud endpoint. Your camera can be anywhere in the world, and you can then control it remotely from your cloud system sitting in your MCR, and that could be any location in the world. All you need is an internet connection to that camera.
TKT1957: Phill, thanks a lot for the interview!
