Blazar Lens has introduced the latest addition to its lineup, the Cato 2x Anamorphic series.
This series consists of four lenses: 40mm T2.4, 50mm T2, 85mm T2.8, and 125mm T3.2, all featuring a consistent 2x anamorphic squeeze ratio suitable for large formats.
Balancing Tradition and Modernity
The Cato series, akin to Blazar’s Remus series, aims to blend traditional anamorphic aesthetics with a contemporary touch. These lenses employ barrel distortion in their design, creating a classic anamorphic look with a neutral silver flare that reflects the color of direct light sources.
Optimized Performance Across Focal Lengths
Each lens in the Cato series has been meticulously optimized at different apertures, with the 50mm offering the fastest T2 aperture.
Affordable with Compromises
While the image circle coverage and T stops vary across the focal lengths, Blazar emphasizes affordability without compromising quality. The Cato series lenses offer a cost-effective option compared to other alternatives on the market.
Design and Compatibility
Sporting a sleek silver and black design reminiscent of the Remus series, the Cato lenses feature dual focus markings in both feet and meters. They are available in PL or EF mount options, catering to various camera setups.
Compact and Lightweight
Weighing between 853g and 940g, and measuring 110mm to 134mm in length, the Cato lenses are designed for ease of handling without compromising on performance.
Pricing and Availability
Blazar plans to announce pricing closer to the release date, with most lenses available for pre-order in July and shipping commencing in August. The 40mm lens is expected to ship in October.
