Bolin Technology: Full NDI-Enabled PTZ Camera Line at IBC2024

The company will display its full range of NDI-enabled broadcast-quality PTZ cameras, featuring support for the FreeD protocol, 255 PTZ control steps, and NDI-Certified, NDI 6-ready capabilities with both high bandwidth and HX3 support.

European Debut of NDI-Certified PTZ Cameras

For the first time in Europe, Bolin will showcase its entire line of NDI-Certified PTZ cameras at IBC2024. The company remains the sole provider of NDI 6-certified outdoor PTZ cameras.

Kyle Lo, CEO of Bolin Technology, stated, “IBC2024 highlights the advancements in our entire PTZ camera line, particularly with the support of the FreeD protocol, which allows customers to integrate virtual and augmented reality elements into live production. The 255-step PTZ control offers smooth, broadcast-quality camera movement.”

Lo also emphasized that the NDI certification ensures reliable operation in NDI environments, with all features accessible immediately upon use.

FreeD Protocol and Fan Engagement

FreeD (Free Dimensional Video) is a protocol developed by Replay Technologies, enabling accurate PTZ camera data reporting for use in virtual or augmented reality. Bolin’s FreeD-enabled cameras have been used in a European indoor bicycle race for automatic tracking. The protocol is compatible with multiple systems, including Axximetry, Brainstorm, Vizrt Viz Virtual Studio, and others.

In addition, FreeD technology enhances fan engagement in sports and entertainment. For example, Bolin PTZ cameras have been used in U.S. NFL stadiums to overlay augmented reality elements and display relevant live statistics.

NDI 6 and HX3 Support

Bolin’s PTZ cameras are fully compatible with NDI 6, offering high bandwidth and HX3 support. NDI 6 introduces enhanced color depth, HDR, and 4:2:2 chroma sampling, which improves video quality and reduces latency. The latest HX3 version reduces network bandwidth usage through advanced compression techniques while maintaining high-quality visuals.

Additionally, NDI Embedded Bridge allows Bolin cameras to stream encrypted video autonomously over wide-area networks, facilitating remote production.

Enhanced Camera Control with VISCA Over IP

Bolin’s PTZ cameras feature a 255-step VISCA Over IP system, significantly improving the smoothness of pan, tilt, and zoom functions. This advancement allows for precise control during live broadcasts, surpassing the standard 24 steps traditionally supported by the VISCA protocol.
