Bongo FM Upgrades Broadcast Studio with AEQ Forum IP Split Console

Bongo FM, a Tanzanian public radio station operating under the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC), has recently upgraded its main broadcast studio with an AEQ Forum IP Split console.

This decision was made during the station’s latest renovation to enhance the quality of its programming, which includes a diverse mix of music, sports, and entertainment content. The station, broadcasting at 94.6FM, also offers an online streaming option through its website.

Technical Enhancements and Features

The AEQ Forum IP Split console was chosen for its user-friendliness, operational robustness, and superior audio quality. It is a digital mixing console specifically designed for on-air broadcast control. The model installed at Bongo FM, in collaboration with local partner Britt Broadcast, includes essential features for broadcast environments such as automatic monitor and cough cut-offs, fader start, signaling control, and external equipment automation. Additionally, it supports external communications management and intercom systems.

Adaptability and Connectivity

The console’s modular design allows it to be perfectly adapted to various scenarios including solo operation, announcer control, TV production, and sound production, among others. Its compact size makes it suitable for both small settings and integration into larger installations. The Forum IP Split version is built around the FR Core modular engine housed in a 3-rack unit. It supports up to six quad fader modules and a control and monitoring unit. For connectivity, it includes AoIP multi-channel input and output cards that are compatible with the AES67 protocol through DANTE technology, allowing interconnectivity with over 300 different manufacturers. Additionally, the console can be equipped with MADI connectivity and up to two internal digital telephone hybrids.
