Broadcast Solutions, recognized as one of Europe’s leading media systems integration groups, has completed a significant delivery of broadcasting equipment to Azam Media Ltd, also known as AzamTV.
Based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, AzamTV is a prominent broadcaster offering extensive coverage of sports and entertainment across Africa.
State-of-the-Art Outside Broadcast Truck
A key component of this project was the construction of a state-of-the-art, 12-camera outside broadcast truck. This single-expanding trailer was equipped with advanced technology including a Ross production switcher and router, EVS XT-GO replay systems, and a Lawo mc236 audio console, marking it among the most modern setups in Africa. The truck was also outfitted with 12 Sony HDC 3100 cameras equipped with Canon lenses and 2 Dream Chip mini-cameras for point-of-view (POV) applications.
Flight Case Production Kits and VAR Support
In addition to the broadcast truck, Broadcast Solutions provided three flight case production kits, each designed to support five cameras. These kits are intended for local football league coverage, featuring Newtek 3PLAY replay servers for high-quality broadcasts. The contract also included the delivery of three C-band flyaway satellite uplinks for remote location coverage and a specialist VAR (Video Assistant Referee) van. This VAR van was designed to meet FIFA standards and to support the increasing number of certified VAR officials in the region.
Partnership for Growth
Raghvendra Tiwari, the Head of Department – Technical at Azam Media, highlighted the growth in sports rights as a key factor for this major investment. After considering various systems integration companies, Azam Media chose Broadcast Solutions for their reputation in Africa for quality and ongoing support. Wladislaw Grabowski, Managing Director / COO of Broadcast Solutions, emphasized the company’s ability to understand and quickly meet the specific needs of production companies, leading to a successful project and satisfied customer.
Project Execution and Delivery
The new outside broadcast unit, support truck, flight case production kits, and VAR van were constructed at the Broadcast Solutions workshops in Bingen am Rhein, Germany. All systems integration, wiring, testing, and commissioning were completed at the factory before the equipment was shipped to Tanzania, ensuring a seamless setup and operational capability for AzamTV.
