$69 Billion Deal Sealed: Broadcom Finalizes Acquisition of VMware

Broadcom has successfully concluded its acquisition of VMware, a cloud computing company, for $69 billion (€63.1 billion).

This major transaction attracted attention from regulators globally, receiving its final approval from China. This followed a discussion between U.S. President Joe Biden and China’s President Xi Jinping at the Apec summit. VMware specializes in virtualisation software, which enhances computer system efficiency by allowing virtual computers to operate on physical ones.

Hock Tan, the CEO of Broadcom, expressed enthusiasm about combining their teams to create a leading infrastructure technology firm. To finalize this acquisition, Broadcom obtained necessary legal approvals for the merger from multiple countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the European Union, Israel, Japan, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, and the UK.
