Canon has released a new firmware update for the Cinema EOS C70 camera, which brings several enhancements and compatibility with the newly announced 24-105mm F2.8 IS USM Z zoom lens.
The update, labeled Firmware Version 1.0.8.1, offers the following improvements:
Lens Compatibility: When using the CN-E31.5-95mm T1.7 L S lens, the update enables the display of lens metadata, T number, and supports corrections like Peripheral Illumination and Chromatic Lens Aberration.
Support for RF-Mount Cinema Prime Lenses: The update adds support for several RF-Mount Cinema Prime Lenses, including the CN-R14mm T3.1 L F, CN-R20mm T1.5 L F, CN-R24mm T1.5 L F, CN-R35mm T1.5 L F, CN-R50mm T1.3 L F, CN-R85mm T1.3 L F, and CN-R135mm T2.2 L F.
Enhanced Functionality with RF24-105mm F2.8L IS USM Z Lens: When the RF24-105mm F2.8L IS USM Z lens is attached, the update enables aperture ring adjustment, zoom operations, and adds support for the Power Zoom Adapter PZ-E2.
Multi-Camera Control: The update includes support for Canon Multi-Camera Control and the RC-IP1000.
Digital Teleconverter: It adds a Digital-Teleconverter function with options for 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x, and 3x.
Proxy Media: The update introduces an option for [_Proxy] in XF-AVC proxy media naming.
Improved Vector Scope: The Vector Scope now displays [BT.2020] when the color space is set to BT.2020 and always displays the target color name.
Before performing the firmware update, make sure you have the necessary equipment, including the camera body (EOS C70), a computer with compatible operating systems, an SD card with at least 512MB capacity, an SD card reader/writer or built-in slot, a fully charged camera battery, and the downloaded firmware file.
