Canon has announced new firmware updates for several of its camera models, including the EOS C500 Mark II, EOS C300 Mark III, EOS C70, EOS R5 C, and select camcorders.
EOS C500 Mark II Enhancements
The firmware update for the EOS C500 Mark II introduces several new features:
Sensor Mode Assignment: Users can now save the “Sensor Mode” setting to an assignable button on the camera body, allowing for quick changes between Full-frame, Super 35mm, and Super 16mm crop modes.
Focus Guide Size Options: The Focus Guide box now has two size options, Standard and Large (approximately twice the size of Standard).
Playback Marker Display: The camera’s LCD screen will now display a playback marker in Media Mode.
EOS C300 Mark III Improvements
The EOS C300 Mark III camera receives the following updates:
Cinema RAW Light Recording: New recording modes include Cinema RAW Light HQ/ST/LT.
Auto ISO/Gain Functions: These functions can now be operated from the camera menu, an assignable button, or with a compatible remote-control unit.
EOS C70 and EOS R5 C Updates
Both the EOS C70 and EOS R5 C cameras will gain:
Focus Guide and Playback Marker: Similar to the updates for the EOS C500 Mark II and EOS C300 Mark III.
Assignable Functions: Users can now assign various functions to the select dial on the back of the camera, including AF subject selection, shutter, iris, ISO/gain, and white balance mode.
Additional Features for EOS R5 C
AF Frame Thickness Adjustment: Users can adjust the thickness of the AF frame, enhancing visibility in different lighting conditions.
AF Position Reset: The AF position can now be reset by pushing the joystick or set buttons.
RAW VR Content Recording: When using Canon’s dual fisheye lens for RAW VR content, the firmware update allows recording of both peripheral illumination and chromatic aberration data, improving footage processing for smoother VR content.
Updates for XA75/70, XA65/60, and VIXIA HF G70 Camcorders
The camcorders will benefit from the following updates:
Date and Time OSD: An option to view the date and time in the on-screen display while recording.
White Balance Adjustment: White balance can now be changed while recording.
These firmware updates are now available for download, providing enhanced functionality and improved performance across Canon’s camera lineup.
