Chrosziel displayed a prototype of its new Sony FX9 Hot Swap Battery Adapter with Drop-in Radio Mic Slot.
The concept is very similar to the ARRI Ambient Power Slot for AMIRA (V-Mount). Chrosziel’s solution for the Sony FX9 allows you to not only power your camera via a V-lock battery, but you can also hot-swap batteries without having the camera or connected accessories power down.
It also features a drop-in slot for wireless receivers and Chrosziel plans on making adapter versions so that it will work with a wide array of wireless RX units. If you are using a dual-channel wireless receiver you can output the audio via two mini XLRs to the camera’s audio inputs.
The powering solution also features a Hirose output as well as two D-taps. You can also individually turn off the D-tap outputs and the Hirose.
Depending on the battery you are using and how many accessories you are running, the Sony FX9 Hot Swap Battery Adapter can power the camera and accessories for up to 45 seconds while you are changing batteries. The adapter doesn’t have an in-built battery as such, but instead, it can store energy from the attached battery that it then uses to power your camera while you change over a battery.
Chrosziel Sony FX9 Hot Swap Battery Adapter with Drop-in Radio Mic Slot is still in the prototype stage, but the company plans on releasing it early next year. There is currently no indication about pricing.
