The International Luge Federation (FIL) has announced a new partnership with Chyron, a provider of graphics technology and services.
This collaboration will begin with the 2024/2025 pre-Olympic winter season, making Chyron the official graphics provider for FIL competitions. This initiative aims to improve the visual quality of luge broadcasts.
Commitment to Quality and Innovation
FIL secretary general Dwight Bell highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating that the upcoming season will feature races across three continents: Europe, North America, and Asia. This season is particularly significant as athletes will begin qualifying for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milano-Cortina, Italy. Bell noted that Chyron’s advanced graphics capabilities align with FIL’s objective to enhance the viewer experience.
Since the 2023/2024 season, Chyron has played a crucial role in the success of FIL’s live sports production, particularly in TV graphics. The two organizations collaborated to revamp the graphics used in broadcasts, introducing new and dynamic elements to make the viewing experience more informative and engaging.
Enhancing Race Day Experience
Chyron’s involvement has been evident at all EBERSPAECHER World Cup and FIL Championship events, where their team has worked to improve broadcast graphics and analysis. Drew Hahn, Chyron’s senior vice president of sales for the Americas, noted the opportunity to update FIL’s on-air appearance and enhance race day workflows. He emphasized that the flexibility of Chyron PRIME was essential for the successful coverage of luge events.
Mark Friedman, vice president of sales for strategic accounts, mentioned that Chyron collaborated closely with the FIL team to create a new visual style that utilizes the extensive data available to them. With races lasting under a minute, the ability to present graphics quickly is crucial, and Chyron PRIME facilitates this need.
Looking Ahead to the Future
As the 2024/2025 season approaches, Chyron will continue to provide creative and technical services as the official live graphics provider. This partnership is expected to drive further innovation in sports storytelling through enhanced visual information and analysis in FIL broadcasts. Chyron’s advanced PRIME software will also introduce new animations and custom graphics to engage fans.
FIL president Einars Fogelis expressed enthusiasm about the extended partnership, noting Chyron’s expertise in TV graphics and live production has been valuable. He looks forward to the innovative enhancements that will be integrated into future broadcasts.
Chyron CEO Mike Truex added that FIL’s commitment to expanding its global audience through visually appealing graphics is commendable. He expressed pride in partnering with FIL and demonstrating how Chyron PRIME can benefit leading sports organizations worldwide.
