Interview with Colin Clark, Vice President of Product Development at Russound at ISE 2024.
Hi, I’m Colin Clark with Russound, here at ISE in Barcelona 2024. It’s a great trade show, the largest AV show in the world. We enjoy it because we get to see our customers from all around the world and receive wonderful feedback from them. ISE is really our favorite show.
We’re here today with a lot of new products, including some great amplifiers. We actually have seven new amplifier models on display. Russound is known for focusing on whole-house, multi-room audio, mainly for residential use, but we also have some great light commercial applications. The newest product we’re getting a lot of great feedback on is our AVA series of amplifiers. We have two models: a 2.1 and a 3.1, so a two-channel and a three-channel mini amplifier. This mini amplifier, a mini AVR, has a tiny form factor that can be hidden away behind the television or inside a wall. It’s a great way to improve the sound of your television in any installation. All you have to do is connect the HDMI ARC output from your TV to this amplifier, connect your favorite speakers (and Russound makes some great options for those), install it, and you can now use your TV remote control to control the sound in your room. We have enhanced DSP modes on this for movies, music, and enhancing the voice signal, so you can hear your favorite movies and TV shows properly.
We have two models of this: the 3.1 and a 2.1. The 3.1 is perfect for our new soundbar, the Cinema Bar 3.0. It’s a three-channel passive soundbar that goes all the way down to 70 Hz, so no subwoofer is really needed. You can always add one for some extra bass, but at 70 Hz, this soundbar has some low-end bass that’s really going to impress you for both movies and TV shows. It pairs great with our new amp.
We also have a whole new line of multi-channel amplifiers, our D series, all digital amps. We have an 8-channel, a 12-channel, and a 16-channel amplifier. The 8-channel and 12-channel both have 90 watts of power per channel; the 16-channel goes up to 75 watts per channel. They all have the same feature set, but we have some really innovative new features. One of those is audio filters, and you don’t need any programming or in-depth training to use these. The configuration works great with some simple switches in the back. All you have to do is flip the switches for the audio filters, and you can have a low-pass filter, a high-pass filter, or full-range sound to really optimize with the speakers you’re using in your room. It’s very easy to install and configure. That’s the heart of Russound: building reliable products for custom installers. We’re looking forward to everyone visiting the booth at ISE 2024.
