Core SWX Unveils NANOX Batteries with Advanced Features

Core SWX, a prominent manufacturer of batteries, has recently unveiled its latest product line, the NANOX batteries.

These batteries are distinguished by their compact size, lightweight design, and the incorporation of a durable “NexCore” compound shell. They are designed to cater to the needs of both cinema and still photography equipment, providing a solution to the high power demands of video capture. The NANOX batteries are available in two capacities, 98wh and 150wh, and come in both V-Mount and Gold Mount options.

Rise of V-Mount and Gold Mount Batteries

The evolution of hybrid camera systems, which blur the lines between cinema and still photography, has led to increased demand for versatile power solutions like V-Mount and Gold Mount batteries. These batteries have become essential for hybrid shooters facing the challenge of high power consumption during video capture. Core SWX and other manufacturers have responded to this need by developing mass-market solutions, including the NANOX batteries, which support a range of powered accessories through multiple ports.

Build Quality and Durability

The NANOX batteries are crafted from Core SWX’s newly developed polymer compound, NexCore, which offers a balance of toughness and flexibility. This material ensures the batteries are resistant to impacts, vibrations, and extreme weather conditions, despite their relatively light weight. The batteries are designed to be robust, with weights of 590g/1.3lbs for the 98Wh version and 700g/1.54lbs for the 150Wh version, although the exact resistance levels to temperature variations have not been detailed by the company.

Capacity and Connectivity Options

Offering operational voltages between 12v and 16.8v, the NANOX batteries are available in two capacities. The 98Wh version provides 14.8v and 6.6Ah, while the 150Wh version delivers 14.8v and 9.9Ah. For connectivity, the batteries are equipped with one USB-A port, a 100W USB-C PD port, and a 12v P-Tap, catering to a wide range of devices and accessories. Additionally, the batteries feature a 1.4″ tripod screw for easy attachment to rigs and cages without needing the V-Mount or Gold Mount.

Communication and Power Management

The NANOX batteries include advanced features for power management and communication. They have dual-sided LED indicators for easy viewing of power levels from various angles and an EmLED Display panel protected under the NexCore shell, showing percentage and running time. Furthermore, the batteries can communicate their status to specific cameras and include an RFID tag for monitoring through a dedicated smartphone app, Voltbridge iD, set to launch in the summer.

Target Audience

Designed for a wide range of users, the NANOX batteries are particularly suited for outdoor, news, and travel cinematographers who value compactness and durability. They are also ideal for single operators and independent creators who need to manage their equipment’s weight and size efficiently.
