CREWMATE Launches Crowdfunding to Support Final Development Stage for New Film Production App

Following the discontinuation of the Camlist app, a new application known as CREWMATE is being developed to support camera department professionals in the pre-production phase.

The CREWMATE team has initiated a crowdfunding campaign to finance the final stages of its development.

Background on Camlist

Originally introduced in 2019, Camlist was a mobile application aimed at aiding camera assistants by facilitating the creation of camera lists. It featured a comprehensive database of equipment and rental houses globally, along with collaborative features. Despite its success and a user base of over 5,000, the app was withdrawn from the App Store in 2023 due to the need for a complete source code rewrite, which the Camlist team was unable to manage.

Transition to CREWMATE

CREWMATE emerges as the successor to Camlist, targeting a broader audience within the film production industry. The development team is focusing on creating a robust and versatile platform that will initially cater to camera assistants and directors of photography. Plans are in place to expand its offerings to include other technical departments in the future.

Development and Funding

To complete the development of CREWMATE, the team is currently seeking financial support through a crowdfunding campaign. The funds will be used to enhance the user interface, extend the equipment database, improve collaboration tools, ensure data security, and guarantee the app’s reliability at launch.

Release Information

The release of CREWMATE is planned for the first half of 2024, initially available for iPhone users, with an iPad version to follow. Pricing details for the app have not been disclosed yet.

Supporting CREWMATE

Supporters of the CREWMATE project can contribute through its crowdfunding page, with rewards varying based on the donation amount, including early beta access, 1-year or lifetime licenses, and opportunities to become a strategic advisor.

Considerations for Crowdfunding Supporters

Potential backers are reminded of the risks associated with crowdfunding projects, including possible delays and the risk of non-delivery. It is advised to review the crowdfunding platform’s terms of use carefully.
