Riedel Communications has announced that Czech Radio, the public radio broadcaster of the Czech Republic, has upgraded its Riedel Artist intercom infrastructure.

This upgrade is part of Czech Radio’s continuous system expansion, with Smart Informatics responsible for system integration and support.

Initial Deployment and Continuous Expansion

Czech Radio initially implemented the Artist wired intercom system in 2009, recognizing it as a reliable solution for simplifying communication across various workplaces. Since then, the broadcaster has consistently expanded its intercom system to meet evolving technological and operational needs.

15 Years of Collaboration

Karel Zyka, CTO at Czech Radio, highlighted the 15-year collaboration with Riedel Communications. He noted that the Artist infrastructure has been extended and upgraded over time without the need for a complete system renewal, thanks to Riedel’s ongoing development efforts.

Current Infrastructure Configuration

The latest upgrade includes one new Artist-1024 frame, three Artist-64 matrices, and nearly 10 dozen intercom panels, including RSP-1232 and RSP-1216 SmartPanels. Additionally, a new Bolero wireless intercom system has been integrated into the infrastructure.

Tomas Vesely, Managing Director at Smart Informatics, emphasized the longevity of Riedel products, which integrate seamlessly with newer generation solutions. He also highlighted innovative features such as the 1200 Series SmartPanel’s Syntonous Mode, which allows flexible and efficient remote connections.

Operations and Connectivity

Czech Radio operates 10 nationwide stations and 14 regional stations, with some connected via VoIP and others via the SmartPanel’s Syntonous Mode. This feature enables AES67 connections to the Artist matrix with high-path delay and without PTP synchronization, providing high-quality audio with low latency.

Usage Scenarios

The Artist system is used for communication between work sites and for MADI interconnection to third-party switching systems. At news stations, the panels’ GPIO properties are utilized for on-air signaling to remote workplaces. The Bolero wireless intercom system is used for communication at outdoor events.

Long-Term Relationship

Ismet Bozkurt, Senior Sales Manager, Eastern Europe, at Riedel Communications, noted that the long-term relationship with Czech Radio demonstrates Riedel’s ability to provide reliable communication infrastructure that supports gradual upgrades rather than complete system replacements.
