Traditional TKT1957 survey following the IBC exhibition: Dave Colantuoni, Vice President of Product Management at Avid.
- What are the main trends of IBC 2023, in your opinion, and what are the main directions of development most characteristic in your segment of the industry?
The dynamics of our industry are rapidly evolving. A few years back, the buzz was all about cloud and distributed production. This trend is still very much alive and evident at the show. Complementing this is the rising tide of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Avid is at the forefront, showcasing these capabilities, which I’ll delve into shortly. The synergy of AI-driven efficiencies, coupled with global remote collaborations and productions, encapsulates the prevailing trends.
- What new products is your company showcasing at IBC 2023?
Avid has a plethora of innovations on display, from enhancements to Media Composer, our storage solutions, to MediaCentral Pro Tools. However, the standout is our new product, ScriptSync AI and PhraseFind AI. It’s an evolved version of a product we introduced last year. We’ve integrated AI infrastructure, incorporating speech-to-text technology. This offers a myriad of functionalities, from transcription to script-based editing and aligning scripts with dialogue in program timelines. And trust me, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
- Are there any developments in integrating AI into your solutions?
Our AI endeavors extend beyond just a few products. We’re showcasing open captions AI, a recommendation engine for knowledge learning, and semantic search capabilities. All these innovations are on display at IBC, but for those who can’t make it, a virtual tour is available on avid.com. This event has been a testament to Avid’s commitment and collaboration with industry partners. I appreciate your time, and for a deeper dive into our offerings, I invite you to visit Avid.com.
