Blackmagic Design has launched an update for DaVinci Resolve, marked as version 18.6.6. This enhancement brings new support functionalities, notably for AVC MXF Op Atom formats, alongside refinements in handling QuickTime files’ alpha channels and more efficient media management for 8K X-OCN clips during trimming processes.

The update introduces several notable features:

  • New capabilities for encoding in Panasonic AVC 100 and 50 MXF Op Atom formats.
  • An additional option for encoding LPCM audio in QuickTime using big endian format.
  • Improvements in default alpha channel mode interpretation for certain QuickTime files.
  • Corrections to path separator inconsistencies in project settings on Windows platforms.
  • Fixes for issues where some Sony XAVC H clips appeared as offline.
  • Resolution of a trimming issue affecting media management of Sony 8K X-OCN clips.

System Requirements

For a smooth operation of DaVinci Resolve 18.6.6, systems must meet the following minimum requirements:

For macOS Users:
  • macOS 12 Monterey or newer.
  • At least 8 GB of system memory, recommended 16 GB for using Fusion.
  • Blackmagic Design Desktop Video version 12.0 or later.
  • An integrated or discrete GPU with a minimum of 2 GB VRAM, supporting Metal or OpenCL 1.2.
For Windows Users:
  • Windows 10 Creators Update or later.
  • A minimum of 16 GB system memory, with 32 GB recommended for Fusion users.
  • Blackmagic Design Desktop Video 10.4.1 or later.
  • An integrated or discrete GPU with at least 2 GB of VRAM, compatible with OpenCL 1.2 or CUDA 11.
  • Appropriate NVIDIA/AMD/Intel GPU driver version as required by the GPU.
For Linux Users:
  • Rocky Linux 8.6 or CentOS 7.3.
  • 32 GB of system memory.
  • Blackmagic Design Desktop Video 10.4.1 or later.
  • A discrete GPU with at least 2 GB of VRAM, supporting OpenCL 1.2 or CUDA 11.
  • Necessary NVIDIA/AMD driver version as per the GPU requirement.
