Blackmagic Design has introduced a video tutorial on utilizing the DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel, compatible with Mac, Windows, and iPad.

The DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel is specifically designed for use with DaVinci Resolve software and offers the following features:

Design and Functionality

The panel is designed to work seamlessly with the Apple iPad Pro, providing professional color control in a user-friendly interface. It enhances the color correction and workflow efficiency of DaVinci Resolve Studio software compared to using a keyboard and mouse. The panel includes three high-resolution trackballs, 12 control knobs, and multiple buttons for adjusting parameters such as Y lift, Y gamma, Y gain, and contrast.

Primary Adjustment Controls

The controls are positioned similarly to those on advanced versions of the panel, allowing for adjustments of the power window shape, size, position, and softness, as well as resizing the input image. The Micro Color Panel is compact, about the size of a standard keyboard, and features a slot to mount an iPad Pro for use as a software display. It connects via Bluetooth or USB-C and runs on either an internal battery or USB-C power.

    • Y Lift Control: Adjusts contrast in dark areas without changing saturation.

    • Contrast Control: Modifies the black and white levels of the image.
    • Pivot: Changes the center of tonality for contrast adjustments.
    • Mid-Tone Detail: Affects the perception of sharpness and definition, useful for softening facial features.
  • Detail
    • Color Boost Control: Increases saturation in low-saturation regions without oversaturating.
    • Shadow Control: Adjusts shadow detail without affecting mid-tones.
    • Highlight Control: Recovers blown-out highlights for a natural-looking image.
  • Saturation
    • Saturation Control: Adjusts overall image saturation, allowing for grayscale conversion.
    • Hue Control: Rotates hues around the color wheel, with a default setting that maintains the original hue distribution.
    • Luminance Mix Control: Balances YRGB adjustments with Y-only adjustments for lift, gamma, and gain controls.
