Expanded Features and Capabilities
The Director Mini is known for its compact design, combining multi-input switching, graphics, streaming, recording, and monitoring. With the version 3.0 update, Magewell has introduced new scene presets such as picture-in-picture, side-by-side, and quad-splits, allowing users to create complex scene layouts more efficiently. The built-in scoreboard engine has been enhanced with four new templates specifically for football (soccer), including stoppage time and player substitution.
The update also expands the system’s graphics capabilities, adding animated titles and lower thirds, and improving the user interface for easier scene layout and graphics management. Remote control options have been extended to allow more control from mobile devices and laptops. The Director Utility mobile app now supports live program video and audio monitoring, instant replay control, and replay event sharing.
Input flexibility has been further expanded with support for RTSP streams and HTML webpage sources. The update also includes the ability to use NDI High Bandwidth sources with alpha channel as motion overlays. Additionally, the Director Mini can now encode its distribution, and supports USB tethering for smartphone data connectivity.
New Pricing Structure
Alongside the release of version 3.0, Magewell has announced a price reduction for the Director Mini. As of August 13, 2024, the list price has been reduced to $1099 USD in the United States. This new pricing is intended to make the Director Mini more accessible to a wider range of content producers, particularly smaller organizations that previously found the original price point challenging.
