DJI has unveiled the Mini 4 Pro, a significant upgrade to its entry-level drone series. This new “Pro” version boasts omnidirectional obstacle sensing, a feature crucial for beginners and enhancing tracking capabilities.

While retaining the sensor from its predecessor, the DJI Mini 3 Pro, the Mini 4 Pro introduces 4K 100p high-speed recording for slow-motion capture.

The Mini series has always been lightweight, weighing just under 250 grams, to bypass certain drone regulations. Earlier versions lacked obstacle detection, but DJI has progressively enhanced this feature. The Mini 3 introduced downward vision sensing, while the Mini 3 Pro added sensing in all directions except laterally. The Mini 4 Pro now offers complete omnidirectional obstacle sensing, eliminating blind spots and improving tracking.

DJI’s ActiveTrack 360° technology in the Mini 4 Pro offers advanced tracking features, allowing even novices to achieve complex shots. With the new omnidirectional sensing, users can confidently utilize these features, reducing the risk of crashes. The ActiveTrack 360° also introduces the Trace wheel interface, simplifying camera movements for beginners.

The Mini 4 Pro shares its sensor specifications with the Mini 3 Pro, including a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, f/1.7 aperture, 48MP stills resolution, and 4K/60fps HDR video. However, the Mini 4 Pro’s new image processing platform enables 4K/100fps recording. DJI also introduces “dual native ISO fusion” and an “enhanced noise reduction algorithm” for improved low-light performance.

The Mini 4 Pro supports 10-bit recording and introduces D-Log M recording. It also offers HLG recording in video and 48MP RAW and Smart Photo technology in photography. Catering to social media trends, the drone can rotate its camera 90º for true vertical video recording, ideal for platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

The drone uses DJI’s O4 video transmission for stable, high-quality wireless video transmission and offers up to 34 minutes of flight time, extendable to 45 minutes with an additional battery.

DJI also presents optional accessories, including a wide-angle lens attachment and an ND filter set. The drone is available in various bundles, with prices starting at EUR 799 / GBP 689.

In summary, the DJI Mini 4 Pro sets a new standard in entry-level drones, combining advanced features with user-friendly interfaces, making it a top choice for both beginners and professionals.
