The latest firmware update for the DJI Osmo Action 6 adds support for 8K UHD video recording at up to 30 frames per second.
The new mode is available at 24, 25, and 30fps and supports 10-bit D-Log M recording using the H.265 codec.
The camera uses a 1/1.1-inch CMOS sensor with a resolution of 38 megapixels (7168 × 5376). While this sensor resolution does not fully match native 8K UHD dimensions (7680 × 4320), the camera records 8K video through internal processing. Compared to 4K, the new mode provides additional detail and more flexibility for cropping in post-production.
Sensor and Optical Characteristics
The Osmo Action 6 features a variable aperture lens with an f/2.0–f/4.0 range, a specification that remains uncommon in the action camera segment. This design allows greater control over exposure in different lighting conditions.
Wireless Footage Upload
The firmware introduces wireless footage upload directly from the camera. Supported destinations include Baidu Netdisk, Quark Netdisk, OneDrive, Google Drive, and network-attached storage (NAS). Users can enable automatic uploads or manually select clips for transfer.
Photo Mode and Control Updates
Film-style tone presets are added to Photo mode, enabling direct output of stylized images. QS button customization options are expanded to include Screen Off and Zoom functions, allowing faster access to selected controls.
Macro Lens and Focus Tools
When a macro lens is attached, the camera now supports focus peaking assistance. Custom aspect ratio options are also available when using macro or FOV Boost lenses.
Additional Functional Improvements
Gesture control is supported in scenarios such as webcam use, live streaming, and DP output. The grid overlay in Custom mode is refined by removing edge vignetting. Image quality is improved under Image Quality Priority mode, and minor bugs are addressed.
Firmware Update Method
The firmware update (version v01.02.0521) is available through the DJI Mimo mobile application. Installation requires the latest version of the app and an active connection between the camera and a smartphone.

The DJI Osmo Action 6 is currently listed at a price of $379, with European pricing around €380 including VAT.
