DJI Unveils Osmo Pocket 3

DJI’s latest pocket camera boasts a rotatable OLED touchscreen, 1-inch sensor, and 4K 120fps capabilities.

DJI Electronics has launched its latest innovation, the Osmo Pocket 3. This new camera is equipped with a 9.4MP 1-inch type CMOS sensor, a 20mm equivalent f/2.0 lens, and a 3-axis stabilized camera head. It can capture up to 4K 120fps video, supports a 10-bit D-Log M color profile, and offers a night mode up to 30fps. A standout feature is its 2” rotatable OLED touchscreen, enhancing user experience. The Osmo Pocket 3 is priced starting at $519.

The Osmo Pocket series has seen consistent evolution. The original Osmo Pocket was introduced five years ago as an ultra-compact gimbal-stabilized camera. The DJI Pocket 2, released in October 2020, brought a larger sensor and wider lens. The latest Osmo Pocket 3 further builds on this legacy with an even larger image sensor and numerous enhancements.

The Osmo Pocket 3 addresses a significant concern from its predecessor: the tiny display. The new 2” rotatable OLED touchscreen offers a resolution of 314×556 and 700 nits brightness, making it more user-friendly as a standalone device.

The camera’s larger image sensor is another notable upgrade. The 1-inch type CMOS sensor, combined with a decrease in sensor resolution from 64MP in the Pocket 2 to 9.4MP in the Osmo Pocket 3, ensures larger individual pixels. This promises enhanced low-light performance.

The camera retains the essence of the Osmo Pocket series with its 3-axis gimbal-stabilized camera head. The f/2.0 fixed aperture lens has a focal length equivalent of 20mm. For optimal shutter speed, the Pocket 3 can use magnetic filters, with sets available from DJI and other manufacturers.

In terms of video recording, the Osmo Pocket 3 offers various modes, including 4K UHD at up to 120fps and FullHD at up to 240fps. With DJI’s D-Log M flat color profile, the camera can record 10-bit 4:2:0 video in H.265 compression. It supports MicroSD memory cards up to 512GB.

Despite its advanced features, the Osmo Pocket 3 remains compact, weighing 179g with dimensions of 139.7 × 42.2 × 33.5mm. It boasts three built-in microphones for superior audio recording and is compatible with the DJI Mic 2 wireless transmitter.

DJI has also introduced a range of accessories for the Osmo Pocket 3, including magnetic ND filters, a wide-angle lens, a mini tripod, a battery handle, and more.

The Osmo Pocket 3 is available in two kits: the standard kit priced at $519 and the Creator Combo priced at $669.
