Evertz will present its digital IF conversion and processing technology at IBC 2024, focusing on improving satellite ground infrastructure and workflows for broadcast and media professionals.
Evertz is involved in the Digital IF Interoperability Consortium (DIFI), a non-profit organization that promotes interoperability in satellite and ground systems networks. The consortium is working to establish new industry standards, similar to the transition from SDI to IP workflows. These standards aim to impact the transport of digitized IF signals in the satellite and ground systems industry.
Participation in DIFI PlugFest
In June 2024, Evertz took part in the second DIFI PlugFest in the UK. During the event, nine vendors tested the compatibility of version 1.2 of the IEEE-ISTO 4900-2021 Standard and assessed the functionality of version 1.1. Out of 178 test cases, 93% showed at least partial compliance, with 75% fully compliant. Evertz provided RF and IP routing infrastructure for signal routing and distribution during the tests.
7880RFIP Platform for Spectrum Efficiency
Evertz will introduce the 7880RFIP platform, which offers up to 28 bi-directional conversions in a 3RU frame or up to 8 conversions in a 1RU frame. The platform is capable of digitizing up to 1GHz of instantaneous IF bandwidth per channel, improving spectrum management. Digitized IF signals are transported over WAN networks using IP, eliminating the distance limitations of dark fiber, and potentially enabling new workflows and cost reductions.
670WSP Channelizer and MAGNUM-OS Orchestration System
Evertz will also present the 670WSP channelizer, designed to reduce IP bandwidth requirements through flexible spectrum management. Additionally, the MAGNUM-OS orchestration system will be highlighted, offering streamlined integration of digital IF or hybrid workflows. The system provides a simplified interface that can be scaled and optimized to meet the specific operational needs of different facilities.
