XT-VIA: licensing from EVS

EVS has announced a new licensing model for its XT-VIA live production server, which aims to improve flexibility, accessibility, and the overall user experience in the broadcast and media production sectors.

The innovative model allows users to modify their production capabilities according to changing needs, facilitating easy channel additions and server feature updates without replacing hardware. This adaptability helps manage resources efficiently and reduces costs, as users can scale their operations to match demand.

Three Operational Modes

The XT-VIA server now offers three modes to suit different production needs, ensuring fast and reliable operations:

  • Multicam: Supports complex, large-scale live productions with multiple camera feeds, enabling super slow-motion replays and detailed highlight creation.
  • Spotbox: Useful for ingest and playback tasks, this mode provides dependable recording ports for capturing multiple live feeds and playback channels tailored for shot-box use, ideal for studio and newsroom settings.
  • Sportlight: Best for smaller productions or those with limited budgets, offering high-quality replays and highlights with fewer resources required.
Versatile Use Cases

This versatile licensing model benefits live service providers who need to quickly adjust to client demands. Large providers can manage diverse event scales effectively, while smaller providers can limit their initial costs while still accessing high-end features for significant events. Broadcasters and production centers starting with basic ingest and playout can also upgrade to include replay functions as their needs grow, enhancing the value of their initial server investments.
