TFT1957 interviews Fabio Gallo, Managing Director | CEO of VSN & Woody Technologies, at IBC2024.
– What new products and solutions is your company showcasing at IBC2024?
We have two big pillars of products that we are showcasing here. One is VSNExplorer MAM, our media asset management (MAM) system, which is currently used by over 200 broadcasters worldwide.
The second is our Traffic System, a scheduling system that helps distribute content wherever needed through playout solutions. In addition to that, we are also assisting with monetizing traffic. We have an automated ingest feature within our scheduling system called VSNCrea, which helps broadcasters globally ingest advertisements and monetize their content.
– What do you think are the main trends of the exhibition this year?
There are many trends, and I would say it’s not just one single trend. We are in a very traditional industry, so changes can’t happen as fast as we might like. However, I see that many broadcasters are embracing transformations, especially around AI. If you ask me what’s next, I would say it’s difficult to predict. There are plenty of AI tools that are helping broadcasters work more efficiently and faster. Ultimately, the operators, editors, and journalists behind the scenes are using most of the technology we produce. So, we need to gather feedback from all our customers, operators, and users to ensure they are using the right technology at the right time. We believe that helping them with personalization, machine learning algorithms, and video automation is crucial, and that’s where we’re heading next.
– How big an impact will AI have on the industry?
AI is truly transforming the way our broadcasting industry reinvents the media landscape. At VSN (Video Stream Networks), we are helping broadcasters from all over the world innovate in media. AI is definitely one of our core areas of investment. We are currently deploying, for the first time, AI facial recognition and geometric systems, which help our broadcasters and clients stay at the cutting edge of technology. Our Media Asset Management Systems enable broadcasters to stay at the forefront of technology by allowing them to ingest content and automatically utilize AI for tasks like text-to-speech, automated highlights, clippings, and more. AI is going to play a very important role in our industry, and at VSN, we are fully committed to it.
– Thanks a lot for the interview!
