Apple has unveiled an upgraded version of Final Cut Pro for the iPad, specifically designed to harness the power of the new iPad Pro.
This new release introduces enhanced multicam capabilities and faster rendering speeds.
Enhanced Multicam Capabilities
The standout feature of Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 is its new Live Multicam function, which allows users to record from up to four camera angles simultaneously. This feature works through a wireless connection to Final Cut Camera, an accompanying app that enables the connection of multiple iPhone or iPad devices as cameras. This setup provides a director’s view of each camera’s live feed and allows for on-the-fly adjustments of camera settings such as exposure and focus.
Improved Project Handling with External Support
Another significant update is the support for external projects. Users can now store and access their editing projects on external storage devices, facilitating easier collaboration and media management. This feature also integrates seamlessly with Final Cut Pro for Mac, enabling a smooth workflow between devices.
Customization and Editing Tools
Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 also introduces several new editing tools and customization options. It includes 12 new color-grading presets, eight basic text titles, and 20 new soundtracks. Additionally, users can enhance their projects with new dynamic backgrounds for effect overlays and title sequences.
Pricing and Availability
Scheduled for release later this spring, Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 will be available as a free update for current users. For new users, it will be available on the App Store for a monthly fee of $4.99 or an annual subscription of $49. This includes a one-month free trial for first-time users.
