Triveni Digital has announced the addition of Fred Engel, principal at Fred Engel Technology Consulting, as a strategic consultant.
Engel, who is currently a board member of the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC), is known for his work with NEXTGEN TV and innovative datacasting efforts during his time at PBS North Carolina. His role at Triveni Digital will focus on expanding the company’s involvement in public media and developing new solutions for commercial broadcasters.
Experience and Collaboration in Broadcasting
Engel brings 46 years of broadcasting experience, most recently serving as Chief Technology Officer at PBS North Carolina. During his tenure, he led several initiatives, including a collaboration with Triveni Digital, Device Solutions, and the Wireless Research Center of North Carolina. This partnership resulted in an award-winning system that used ATSC 3.0 technology to improve first responder notifications. Additionally, Engel worked on projects aimed at providing remote learning to students with limited broadband access, using the capabilities of ATSC 3.0.
Key Role in Triveni Digital’s Future
Fred Engel expressed his excitement about joining Triveni Digital and emphasized the company’s contributions to the ATSC 3.0 standard. Engel highlighted their joint work on a digital paging system for first responders at PBS North Carolina. Triveni Digital, known for its expertise in ATSC 1.0 and NEXTGEN TV, has been in the broadcast industry for over 25 years. Engel looks forward to contributing to the company’s future growth and development of new technologies.
