FUJIFILM has released a significant firmware update for users of X-Trans V sensor cameras, initially announced at the X Summit Tokyo in February.
This update introduces the REALA ACE Film Simulation and enhances autofocus performance, particularly when using face detection.
Details from the X Summit Tokyo Announcement
At the X Summit Tokyo in February, FUJIFILM revealed plans for a firmware update to add the REALA ACE film simulation to several camera models, including the X-H2, X-H2S, X-S20, X100VI, and X-T5. This update, now available, also addresses previous autofocus issues where cameras would incorrectly detect faces, leading to false positives. The new firmware improves overall autofocus performance for the specified models.

FUJIFILM X-H2S Firmware Update 7.00
The firmware update 7.00 for the FUJIFILM X-H2S includes the REALA ACE film simulation, designed to offer faithful color reproduction with crisp tonal gradations suitable for various subjects and situations. The update also resolves an issue where the camera would focus on different parts of the face when the autofocus (AF) green box detected the pupil. Additionally, a bug causing the camera to freeze when the shutter button was half-pressed simultaneously with the “AF ILLUMINATOR” light metering operation has been fixed. A minor unspecified bug has also been addressed.
FUJIFILM X-H2 Firmware Update 5.00
The FUJIFILM X-H2 firmware update 5.00 incorporates the improvements from the X-H2S update and includes additional fixes:
Black Edges in Movie Mode: Addresses an issue where black edges appeared on the sides of the screen during movie recording under certain conditions (FHD 16:9, IS MODE (MOVIE): IBIS/OIS+DIS) when camera shake was significant.
Camera Freeze: Fixes a problem where the camera would freeze in rare cases when the shutter release button was pressed all the way down without being half-pressed first under specific shooting modes and settings (CH HIGH-SPEED BURST or CL LOW-SPEED BURST, SHUTTER TYPE: MECHANICAL, E-FRONT CURTAIN, ELECTRONIC, AF MODE: AF-S or AF-C, AF/MF SETTING: RELEASE, SHUTTER AF: OFF).
FUJIFILM X-T5 Firmware Update 4.00 and FUJIFILM X-S20 3.00
The firmware updates 4.00 for the FUJIFILM X-T5 and 3.00 for the FUJIFILM X-S20 both include the REALA ACE film simulation and address the same bugs fixed in the X-H2S update, along with an additional issue:
Freeze During Movie Recording: Fixes a problem where the camera would freeze in rare cases while recording a movie with an external monitor connected under certain conditions (4K 16:9/59.94P, MEDIA REC SETTING: H.264/422 MOV, IS MODE (MOVIE): IBIS/OIS+DIS, HDMI OUTPUT SETTING: HDMI OUTPUT INFO DISPLAY ON).
